The objective of the Compliance Division is to obtain compliance. We work with the owner/occupant of the premises on which violations exist to achieve compliance in reasonable timeframes, based on the extent, severity and type of violation.
The city provides compliance activities using two basic methods: administrative activities and complaints received.
Administrative activities generally include subdivision and development reviews, and building permitting and inspections. These involve applications, public process and specific approvals.
Complaints involve concerns expressed by our residents. These include such things as weeds, junk, unlicensed vehicles, improper parking on properties and other nuisances. The City does not have the resources to actively look for violations and relies on the residents to help inform us of problems in the community by providing us with a complaint.
Complaints need to contain the following information: date of complaint; location (address) of problem; description of problem; name, address, phone number and e-mail of person submitting complaint (so we can follow up –complaints are confidential). A form can be found on this web site.
