PLEASANT VIEW CITY
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
To Prospective Computer Support Service Firms:
Pleasant View City, Utah is requesting proposal for the retaining of a Computer Support Service firm to provide maintenance, updates, repair, installation and training of computer hardware and software.
PLEASANT VIEW CITY OVERVIEW
Pleasant View City, which was incorporated in 1851, has approximately 7,000 residents. The City provides public safety, community development, utility, parks, administration, streets, water and sewer services. The City is governed by the City Council consisting of five members elected at large and an elected Mayor.
ABOUT THE COMPUTER NETWORK SYSTEM
Pleasant View City has a citywide local area network (LAN) made up of approximately 17 workstations using Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems, and 16 laptops for the police department.
The network consists of 1 general purpose server using Windows Server 2000, and 1 server dedicated to E-mail, a backup drive system with removable hard drives, as well as required routers, switches and concentrators.
The City interfaces to the internet with it’s own fully qualified domain, uses Relianet for their Internet Service Provider (ISP), EZ Net Tools as the website host but maintains it’s own website internally. The primary general purpose applications are Microsoft Office 2003 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Symantec Corporate Edition Antivirus software. The E-mail client currently used is Groupwise. The system allows for secure web access E-mail. (Please see the attached hardware list which includes model numbers).
The police department maintains a T-1 line that’s connected to the County Dispatch Services, a mobile connection with South Ogden City for their laptops, as well as a wireless connection with the Pleasant View City offices for their laptops.
Interested parties should demonstrate experience with networks of this complexity and if possible provide references from other clients which support such experience.
Pleasant View City would like a system that is fluid in such a manner that all systems operate in an efficient manner with all software, internet, email, and hardware consistently operating at a speed which does not hinder the daily activities of the staff, City Council, Mayor, etc.

Pleasant View City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, and has the right, in its sole discretion, to accept the proposal it considers most favorable to the City’s interest and the right to waive minor irregularities in procedure.
